Evaxion Announces Positive Preclinical Data for AML Vaccine EVX-04
Evaxion A/S announced new preclinical data for EVX-04, an off-the-shelf therapeutic vaccine candidate for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Developed using the company's AI-Immunologyβ’ platform, EVX-04 targets non-conventional endogenous retrovirus (ERV) tumor antigens from the 'dark genome.' The new data demonstrates that the vaccine is successfully expressed and secreted in human cells, facilitating immune recognition and activation. Preclinical results showed that all 16 ERV fragments included in the vaccine elicited specific immune responses in both in vivo (mice) and in vitro (human cells) models, leading to targeted cell-killing. These findings will be presented at the European Hematology Association (EHA) 2026 Congress on June 13, 2026. Evaxion indicated that it is currently executing remaining preclinical activities while simultaneously preparing a regulatory filing to initiate clinical testing. The vaccine is designed to provide broad tumor coverage regardless of individual patient differences, allowing for immediate administration upon diagnosis.
