Ellomay Capital Ltd. Receives Battery Storage Grid Connection Permit
Ellomay Capital Ltd., a renewable energy company, announced that its Spanish subsidiary, Ellomay Solar S.L., has obtained a grid access and connection permit for a battery storage project. The project has a capacity of up to 22.2 MW / 100.3 MWh and includes a permit to charge 22.2 MW of electricity from the grid, which is expected to enhance flexibility and profitability. Construction is slated to begin in early 2027 and conclude in the fourth quarter of 2027. This development is a key step in Ellomay's strategy to integrate battery storage, particularly in markets like Spain and Italy where demand for flexibility is increasing. The company views battery storage as a core growth area, aiming to improve the utilization of renewable energy and support the evolving power system. Ellomay's existing operations include solar power plants in Spain and Italy, anaerobic digestion plants in the Netherlands, a pumped storage hydro project in Israel, and various other solar projects in Italy and the USA.
